Cowgirl Hoops Split Contests at AFA Tournament

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The Cowgirls went 1-1 over this last weekend at the Air Force Academy Classic in Colorado Springs, Colo. UW earned a victory over Loyola Marymount University on Friday, December 4th, and then lost to Western Michigan on Saturday, December 5th.

In their first game of the weekend, Wyoming defeated the Loyola Marymount Lions 65-53. The Cowgirls were led by junior guard Sara Ossana, who had a team high 20 points and tied a team high five rebounds. Ossana was 9 of 14 from the field in 27 minutes as a starter. Freshman guard Molly Marso also added 14 points and three rebounds in the victory. The Cowgirls shot 46% from the field and 42% from the three-point line.

In the second game of the weekend, the Cowgirls were defeated by a very athletic Western Michigan team 84-71. The Cowgirls were led by freshman forward Carrie Bacon, who was 13 of 24 from the field, and finished the night with a career and season high 27 points and 11 rebounds. She was also named to the All-Tournament team at the Air Force Academy Classic. Senior center Rebecca Tomlin had 14 points and a team leading 14 rebounds. The Cowgirls shot 45% on the night. They are now 3-4 overall going into this week's games versus Colorado and Montana State.
