Casper, Wyoming --
In their highest offensive output of the season, the Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team earned a 46-point victory, 89-43, over the Ohio University Bobcats on Saturday night in Casper.
The Cowgirls jumped out quickly by scoring seven unanswered while the Bobcats went three and a half minutes before scoring their first basket of the game. The lead would grow to double-digits for Wyoming as they ran off 11 straight to go up 18-2. Ohio continued to struggle on the offensive end as they only managed to score four points in the first ten minutes of the half. With about nine minutes left on the clock, the Bobcats tried made a dent in the Cowgirl lead with an 8-0 to bring the score to 25-14. That would be as close as they would get as the Cowgirls closed out the half by out scoring them 13-6 to take a 38-20 lead in to the locker room.
Wyoming was led by Erin Hicks and Hanna Zavecz, who both finished with 11 points for the half. Ashley Elliott followed with nine points. Zavecz was also the leading rebounder with seven. As a team, the Cowgirls were 15-29 (.517) from the field and 4-10 (.400) from beyond the arc.

Erin Hicks struck quickly out of the break with a three-point field goal, then by 19 points in favor of the Cowgirls, they ran off ten straight points to extend their lead to 53-24. Ohio couldn't seem to ever get anything going offensively as another 9-4 run by the Cowgirls put them up by 34-points, 62-28. With about ten minutes to go in the game, the Bobcats gave it one more try by scoring the next nine of twelve, but they could never recover. The Cowgirls out scored the Bobcats 27-15 the rest of the way and 14-2 in the final five minutes to go on to the 89-43 victory.
"A lot of hard work went in to practice this week," said head coach Joe Legerski. "That team causes problems, and we were very sharp tonight. The play of Ashley Elliott, Erin Hicks and Hanna Zavecz really helped out and to have only 13 turnovers in 40 minutes of pressure, I can't say enough about the Wyoming team."
Four Cowgirls finished the night in double-digits, including junior Erin Hicks. She wrapped up her night with a career high 26 points, along with eight rebounds and four steals. Hicks was 10-16 from the field and 6-9 from beyond the arc. Guard Ashley Elliott followed with 16 points and a career high eight steals, along with Hanna Zavecz with 15 points and Tarah Lapar with ten. "Erin Hicks had a tremendous night. She started shooting the ball well and played great on the defensive end. Ashley Elliott was sharp passing the basketball and then Hanna had a nice night shooting 7-11 from the field. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with the effort tonight."
Ohio was led by Simone Redd with a team leading 12 points and seven boards. The next closest scorer to her was Lauren Revesv with eight. The Bobcats ended the game shooting 18-59 (.305) from the field and a dismal 0-16 (.000) from the three-point line. They also committed 21 turnovers in the contest.
