The Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball team will play their first game following a two week layoff and their final non-conference game tonight as they take on the San Francisco Dons. The game is set to tip off at 8:00 p.m. Mountain Time in San Francisco.
Wyoming is currently 11-1 overall during non-conference play. They are also ranked 22nd in the Associated Press Poll and the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll. Senior Hanna Zavecz leads the way with 14.7 points and 4.3 assists. She is followed by sophomore Aubrey Vandiver with 12.7 points and a team leading 7.1 rebounds, while Justyna Podziemska is chipping in 12.1 points per game. The Cowgirls are shooting .418 (266-637) from the field and .713 (164-230) from the free throw line.
USF is currently 9-5 overall after a 66-44 loss against the Nevada WolfPack on Sunday afternoon. They are led by Dominique Carter who is averaging 20.1 points and seven rebounds per game. She is followed by Shay Rollins who is adding 11.6 points and 3.4 rebounds. They return four starters and eight letterwinners to a team that went 10-21 overall and 3-11 in the West Coast Conference a year ago. This is the fifth meeting between the two schools. The series is all tied up at 2-2. The last time the two teams met was November 12, 2006 as the Cowgirls defeated the Dons 71-58 in Laramie. San Francisco is coached by Tayna Haave who is in her second year with the program.
