Wyoming forward Michelle Lieber was named Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, marking her first career award.
A 6-0 freshman from Gillette, Wyo. (Campbell County HS), Lieber was instrumental in helping the Cowgirls to a 3-0 record last week. Lieber was averaging 5.9 rebounds and 3.0 points per game entering last week's contests, but posted three straight double-doubles, giving Wyoming its longest win streak of the season. She totaled 10 points and 10 rebounds in each game vs. Cal State Northridge and Northern Arizona. In the victory over Navy, Lieber tallied a career-high 14 points and 11 rebounds, while going 5-for-5 from the field. For the week, Lieber averaged 11.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 66.7 percent (14-for-21) from the field and 75 percent (6-for-8) from the free throw line. Lieber leads all MWC freshman and ranks fifth overall in the conference with 7.3 boards per game.
