The Cowgirl basketball team will be on the road for the first time in Mountain West Conference play as they travel to Albuquerque to take on the New Mexico Lobos. The game is set for Saturday, January 8 at 12 p.m.

Wyoming is currently 10-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play after an 83-43 victory in their conference opener against Colorado State on Wednesday night. Hillary Carlson is leading the Cowgirls with 18.3 points and 7.7 rebounds, while Aubrey Vandiver follows with 17.2 points and 9.9 rebounds. The Cowgirls are shooting .427 (308-721) from the field, 99-271 (.365) from beyond the arc and 161-220 (.732) from the charity stripe.
Carlson ranks second in the MWC in scoring and blocked shots, third in field goal percentage and fifth in rebounding. Vandiver is among the Top 12 in points, rebounds, assists, minutes played, field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage while senior Jade Kennedy is second in minutes played and assist/turnover ratio and fourth in assists.
The Lobos are currently 6-6 overall with this being their conference opener. They are led by Lauren Taylor who is averaging a team leading 10.6 points plus 2.5 rebounds. She is followed by Porche Torrance who is adding 9.5 points and 7.2 rebounds. They return three starters and ten letterwinners from a team that went 19-13 overall and 9-7 in the MWC a year ago.
This is the 60th meeting between the two schools. New Mexico leads the series 34-25. The last time the two teams met was Feb. 17, 2010 as the Cowgirls defeated the Lobos, 78-55, in Laramie. New Mexico is coached by Don Flanagan who is in his 16th year with the program.
