LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming junior basketball player Sara Ossana of Tucson, Ariz. suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee during practice last week and will have to undergo surgery. She will be lost for the season. Ossana is a junior college transfer from Central Arizona College.

"I am very disappointed in the loss of Sara to our program," said UW head womens basketball coach Cindy Fisher. "Sara is a very strong athlete, who gave us great size and rebounding effort on the perimeter. We will really miss her leadership and experience on the floor."

Ossana played in nine games for the Cowgirls this season, starting in six of those. She was averaging 7.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Fisher also announced that freshman guard Agnes Lindberg (Uppsala, Sweden) and sophomore guard Mandy Gonser (Colorado Springs, Colo.) will be redshirting this season due to injuries. Both have a redshirt year available to them.
