The Cowgirls enter this week's match-up with a 7-8 mark and 2-3 in conference action a tough 57-54 loss against San Diego State Aztecs on Wednesday night. Senior forward Kayla Woodward finished with a game-high 20 points while shooting 7-17 from the field and 4-11 from beyond the arc. Junior guard Marquelle Dent followed with 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals. Junior guard Jordan Kelley led the way with a team-high eight rebounds. The Cowgirls were 20-of-53 (.377) from the field and 8-of-28 (.286) from beyond the arc.
Dent leads the way averaging 17.0 points, 5.6 assists and 2.1 steals. Woodward follows with a team-high 7.6 rebounds plus 15.4 points. Kelley is adding 6.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists in her 15 contests this season. As a team, the Cowgirls are shooting 361-of-922 (.392) from the field and 110-of-333 (.330) from the beyond the arc.
The Bulldogs are 13-3 overall and 5-0 in league play. Senior forward Alex Sheedy leads the way with 17.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest. Center Bego Faz Davalos is averaging a team-high 7.8 rebounds plus 7.9 points. The Bulldogs average 66.1 points compared to 59.6 points for their opponents. This will be the 22nd meeting between the two schools. Fresno State leads the series 11-10. The last time the two teams met was Feb. 19, 2014. The Bulldogs earned a 69-60 victory in San Diego. Fresno State is coached by Jaime White who is in her first season with the program.
