This Week: The Cowgirls play their first conference games on the roadthis week. They will face Brigham Young on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.,and then Utah on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.

About Brigham Young: The Cowgirls will go on the road to face theBrigham Young Cougars on Thursday night. The Cougars are currently 8-7overall and 0-2 in conference play. They are led by sophomore ErinThorn, who is averaging 16.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest.Freshman forward Heather Cheesman is also chipping in 9.3 points and 4.7rebounds. The Cougars went 22-9 overall and 10-4 in the conference lastseason They return 12 letterwinners and four starters to this year'ssquad. This is the 48th meeting between the two schools, Brigham Youngleads the series 34-13. The last time these two teams met was Feb. 10,2000 in Laramie, when Birgham Young came out on top with a 70-69victory. The Cougars are coached by Trent Shippen, who is in his fourthseason.

About Utah: In the second game of the weekend, the Cowgirls will facethe Utah Utes. The Utes currently have an 14-2 overall record and a 3-0conference mark. They are led by junior Lauren Beckman, who is averaging10.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per contest. Amy Ewert is also chipping in9.7 points and 3.5 rebounds. The Utes went 23-8 overall and 11-3 in theconference last season They return eleven letterwinners and fourstarters to this year's squad. This is the 48th meeting between the twoschools, Utah leads the series 41-6. The last time these two teams metwas Feb. 17, 2000 in Laramie, with Utah coming out on top with a 85-66victory. The Utes are coached by Elaine Elliot, who is in her 18thseason at Utah.
