The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will continue their two-game home swing by hosting the TCU Lady Frogs, on Wednesday, January 21. The game is set to tip off at 7 p.m. in the Arena Auditorium.
The Cowgirls will enter this game with an 8-8 overall record and 0-3 in Mountain West Conference play after falling to UNLV, 71-64, on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Hillary Carlson led the way with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Megan McGuffey added 18 points and seven boards.
Three Cowgirls are scoring in double-figures so far this season led by senior Megan McGuffey with 11.9 points per game. Kristen Scheffler follows with 10.8 points while Emma Langford is adding 10.3 points per game. McGuffey also leads the way with 6.4 rebounds per contest.
McGuffey ranks 11th in rebounding and 12th in scoring in the league, while Langford is among the Top 15 in both assists and steals. Scheffler leads the league in three-point field goals made (2.56 tpfgm), while being ranked 18th in scoring.
TCU comes into this game with an 11-6 record overall and a 3-1 mark in the MWC this season. TK LaFleur leads the way with 15.4 points and 5.8 rebounds, while Helena Sverrisdottir is adding 15.1 points and 6.7 boards.
They return two starters and five letterwinners to a team that went 23-12 overall a year ago. This is the 13th meeting between the two teams. The series is tied at 6-6. The last time the two teams met was February 13, 2008 as the Lady Frogs defeated Wyoming, 73-59, in Ft. Worth. TCU is coached by Jeff Mittie who is in his tenth season with the program.
