Wyoming freshman guard Aubrey Vandiver has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, earning her first career honor.
The Laramie, Wyo., native, led the Cowgirls to two double-digit home conference wins last week. In a 71-47 victory over San Diego State, Vandiver recorded her first career double-double with a career-high 23 points and 10 rebounds. She scored the final four points of an 11-point run to give Wyoming a 31-25 advantage at the half before netting 15 points in the second half. She shot a career-high 7-for-11 (.636) from the field and was 2-for-3 from beyond the arc, while swiping a career-high three steals.
In a 66-51 win over then No. 23 TCU, Vandiver hit four consecutive free throws to give the Cowgirls a 48-41 lead with 6:50 left in the game. She recorded 10 points in 22 minutes of play and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the line.
On the week. Vandiver shot 60 percent from the field (9-for-15) and was perfect from the charity stripe (13-for-13). She had 13 rebounds and 33 points to go along with three steals and three assists.
