In their only game of the week, the Wyoming women's basketball team will head out on the road once again as they will battle the Colorado State Rams, on Friday night, at 7:00 p.m. in Ft. Collins.
The Cowgirls enter this week's competition with an overall record of 12-5 and 3-1 in the MWC after a sweep of UNLV, 46-43, and San Diego State, 69-43, at home last week. Wyoming is currently led by senior Ashley Elliott, who is averaging 16.2 points and 4.1 assists per game. She is followed closely by Hanna Zavecz with 15.5 points and 6.6 rebounds and guard Erin Hicks with 10.8 points and a team leading 7.5 rebounds. As a team, they are shooting 348-907 (.384) from the field and 218-293 (.744) from the charity stripe, while averaging 60.7 points per game.
Colorado State enters the week with an 11-6 overall record and a 2-2 mark in the MWC. The Rams are led by Melissa Dennett, who is averaging 15 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. As a team, CSU is shooting 427-996 (.429) from the field and averaging 68.2 points per game. They return three starters and ten letterwinners to a team that went 17-12 overall and 8-6 in the MWC a year ago.
This will be the 70th meeting between the two schools. Colorado State leads the series, 39-30. The last time the two schools met was March10, 2004 when the Cowgirls defeated the Rams, 67-61, in the first round of the MWC tournament in Denver. In fact, Wyoming took two out of three meetings last season.
