The Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball team will wrap up the week as they host the BYU Cougars, on Saturday, January 31. The game time is set for 2 p.m. in the Arena Auditorium.

Also on Saturday, the UW Athletics Department is hosting the ninth annual Take a Kid to the Game carnival in conjunction with the NCAA in the War Memorial Fieldhouse. The event starts at noon and will include a special appearance by the official mascot of NCAA Basketball, JJ Jumper, plus games and prizes for everyone.
The Cowgirls will enter this game with a 10-9 overall record and 2-4 in Mountain West Conference play after earning a 52-41 victory over the Air Force Academy Falcons, on Wednesday night. Kristen Scheffler tied her career high with 21 points in the win, while Hillary Carlson added 13 points and six rebounds.
Four Cowgirls are scoring in double-figures so far this season led by senior Megan McGuffey with 11.3 points per game. Kristen Scheffler follows closely with 11.2 points, Hillary Carlson is averaging 10.9 points and Emma Langford with 10.2 points per game. McGuffey also leads the way with 6.2 rebounds per contest.
McGuffey ranks 12th in rebounding and 16th in scoring in the league, while Scheffler leads the MWC in three-point field goals made (2.74 tpfgm), while being ranked 17th in scoring. Carlson continues to make a mark as she is fourth in field goal percentage and 19th in scoring.
BYU comes into the weekend with a 13-5 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the MWC this season. Mindy Nielson leads the way with 11.4 points and 4.1 rebounds, while Shawnee Slade is adding 10.6 points and 4.4 rebounds.
They return two starters and 12 letterwinners to a team that went 13-16 overall and 7-9 in the MWC a year ago. This is the 65th meeting between the two teams. BYU leads the series 45-19. The last time the two teams met was March 5, 2008 as the Cowgirls defeated BYU, 68-34, in Laramie. The Cougars are coached by Jeff Judkins who is in his eighth season overall.
The pre-game carnival runs from 12:00-1:30 p.m., and admission is a game ticket to the Cowgirl basketball game ($10 for adults and $6 for children 18 and under). The first 250 kids will receive free admission to the game and carnival courtesy of Pepsi Kids Day. Tickets can be picked up anytime prior to the game at the main UW Ticket Office in the Arena Auditorium or at the Fieldhouse entrance, while supplies last.
