The Wyoming women's basketball team returns home for a Wednesday night contest against the Air Force Falcons. Game time is set for a 7 p.m. MT tip at the Arena-Auditorium. Live stats, video and audio can be found on the women's basketball Gameday Central page located on the GoWyo.com website.
UW is currently 10-10 overall and 3-7 in league play after a 21-point loss, 63-42, against Colorado State on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Liv Roberts finished with a career-high 18 points, shooting 6-of-12 (.500) from the field and 4-of-4 (1.00) from the free throw line. Senior Marquelle Dent recorded 14 points while Natalie Baker brought down a team-high 10 rebounds. The Cowgirls were 14-of-47 (.298) from the field and 9-of-10 (.900) from the charity stripe. UW committed 17 turnovers and CSU scored 12 points off those.
Dent currently leads the team in scoring with 17.4 points, assists and steals. She ranks first in assists, minutes played, third in assist/turnover ratio and in scoring in the MW, while in league games she is first in assists, minutes played, third in steals and fourth in scoring. UW is shooting 440-of-1108 (.397) from the field and 110-of-368 (.299) from beyond the arc this season. The Cowgirls are also outscoring opponents 63.5-61.5.
Air Force is 0-20 overall and 0-9 in MW play. The Falcons are led by Cortney Porter who is averaging 11.1 points along with 3.56 rebounds per game. Taylor Parker is the leading rebounder with 4.9 per contest while adding 5.5 points. As a team, Air Force is averaging 46.4 points and 34.0 rebounds. Air Force returns three starters and eight letterwinners to a team that went 2-28 overall and 1-17 in league action.
This is the 49th meeting between the two schools with UW holding the 46-2 advantage in the series. The last time the two teams met was January 6, 2016. The Cowgirls came out on top with a 67-45 victory in Colorado Springs. Air Force is coached by Chris Gobrecht who is in her first season with the program.
