The Wyoming women's basketball team will wrap up the week at home as they welcome the UNLV Lady Rebels, on Saturday, Feb. 4. The game is set to tip off at 2:00 p.m.
The Cowgirls are 14-5 overall and 4-4 in MWC play after losing, 55-47, against the Utah Utes on Thursday night. Wyoming is led in scoring and rebounding by sophomore Hanna Zavecz who is averaging 13.6 points and 6.6 rebounds along with 3.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game. She is followed by Jodi Bolerjack with 12.7 points per game and Megan McGuffey with 8.9 points per game. Wyoming is shooting 384-1031 (.372) from the field and 277-385 (.719) from the free throw line so far this season.
The Lady Rebels are currently 13-6 overall, 5-3 in the MWC after defeating TCU, 61-50, on Thursday night. They are led by Sheena Moore who is averaging 13.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. They come in to this season with four returning starters and 11 letterwinners from a team that went 16-15 overall and 6-8 in the MWC a year ago.
This will be the 23rd meeting between the two schools. UNLV leads the series 16-6. The last time the two teams met was Jan. 5, 2006 in Las Vegas as the Lady Rebels defeated the Cowgirls 65-56. UNLV is coached by Regina Miller who is in her eighth year with the program.
A note that in conjunction with the game tomorrow, the Cowgirl tennis team will be holding a meet and greet. It will be held in the RAC War Room from Noon - 1:00 p.m. There will be snacks and the team will be there to sign autographs. If you attend the meet and greet you will also receive a coupon for a buy one get one free entrance to the Cowgirl basketball game.
