Cowgirl Basketball Faces Colorado State in Border War

The Wyoming women's basketball team will begin the second half of the Mountain West season on Wednesday against the second-place Colorado State Rams. The Cowgirls enter this week's match-up with a 9-10 mark and 4-5 in conference action after a 61-45 victory over Nevada on Saturday night. Three players finished the night in double-figures led by Marquelle Dent. She recorded her second double-double of her career with 18 points and ten assists. Senior guard Kaitlyn Mileto followed with 15 points while senior forward Kayla Woodward had ten points and ten boards. Junior Jordan Kelley finished with a team-high 12 rebounds. Wyoming was 23-of-64 (.359) from the field and 8-of-24 (.333) from beyond the arc. The Cowgirls had 26 points in the paint and 13 points off turnovers.

Dent leads the way averaging 17.2 points, six assists and 2.1 steals. Woodward follows with a team-high 7.7 rebounds plus 15.7 points. Mileto is averaging 11.1 points while Kelley is adding 6.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists in her 19 contests this season. As a team, the Cowgirls are shooting 458-of-1150 (.398) from the field, 145-of-408 (.355) from the beyond the arc and 227-329 (.690) from the charity stripe.

CSU is 15-5 overall and 7-2 in conference play. Last time out, the Rams fell to the Fresno State Bulldogs, 53-49. Senior guard Gritt Ryder leads the way with 11.5 points plus 4.2 rebounds, while sophomore guard Ellen Nystrom follows with 9.5 points and a team-leading 6.4 rebounds. The Rams average 66.8 points compared to 56.9 points for their opponents. This will be the 94th meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 48-45. The last time the two teams met was January 7, 2015. CSU came out on top with a 58-55 victory in Laramie. The Rams are coached by Ryun Williams who is in his third season with the program.
