For the first time in her career, senior Aubrey Vandiver was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District VII First Team. Its' the second year in a row that Vandiver has been honored by CoSIDA as she was selected to the Second Team a year ago and the third time in her career. In being named to the First Team, she now moves on to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, which will be chosen on February 24.
Vandiver is a three-time Academic All-MWC and Scholar Athlete selection, while carrying a gpa of 3.59 in Spanish. She has started in all 21 games this season and is averaging a team leading 9.1 rebounds, while adding 16.9 points, 2.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game. She ranks among the Top 15 in seven categories in overall contests and six categories in league games. Vandiver has earned MWC Player of the Week honors twice this season, and was named to the Holiday Inn Classic All-Tournament Team. She has led the team in scoring seven times, rebounding 12 times, while recording 19 double-figure scoring games this season.Vandiver has also moved into the Cowgirl record book in several categories including seventh in rebounding (824) and tenth in scoring (1,384).
The Academic All-District ® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The University Division team includes NCAA Division I participants, while the College Division team combines NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
To qualify, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility and participated in at least 50 percent of her team's games.
