When did you start playing basketball? When did you decide to focus on it over other sports?

I started playing basketball in third grade at the local YMCA. In middle school, I started to focus more on basketball and began to play on a club team coached by my dad. I played volleyball and basketball in high school but I knew that I wanted to go on to play basketball at the college level.

What did you like most about growing up in Albuquerque? Where would you tell first-time visitors to Albuquerque to go and see?

The food (New Mexico is known for its amazing green chile) and the Balloon Fiesta. If you're going to visit Albuquerque, I would definitely try to go during the International Balloon Fiesta. It is the largest hot air balloon display in the world. Even though I grew up watching it, I am still amazed every year when the sky is filled with hundreds of balloons of all different shapes, sizes, and colors. Every visitor should also check out Old Town (amazing food and culture) and take the tram to the top of the Sandia Mountain (Fun Fact: Sandia means watermelon in Spanish and the mountains are called that because they turn a bright pink color at sunset).

When your time at UW and the basketball program is over, what is the next step in your career path? How would you like to utilize your degree in kinesiology and health promotion?

I'm planning to go on to graduate school and study occupational therapy. I'm currently interviewing with several different schools for acceptance into their OT programs. My degree in kinesiology gave me a great start towards this career and gives me all the required pre-requisites.

You've been a MW Scholar Athlete every year at Wyoming. What has been your favorite class or professor at UW?

My favorite (and most challenging) class at UW was Advanced Exercise Testing and Prescription. I feel like I learned the most from this class and the labs were very hands on and fun. I got to learn how to hook a person up to an ECG and monitor their heart activity and oxygen levels during exercise. It made me feel very professional.

Is there a story or significance to your jersey #22?

It's the number that I've always been since I started playing basketball, so I guess I've grown pretty fond of it.

With any free time available, what do you enjoy doing outside of school and basketball?

With the little bit of free time that I get, I like to relax at home with my roommates and teammates, Chaundra and Ashley. Currently, we're working on watching every season of Army Wives on Netflix. We're major homebodies.

Who is your role model?

Both my parents are definitely my biggest role models. They have always set great examples for me and have supported me through all of my decisions.

Where would your dream vacation be?

I've always wanted to visit Italy. I'd love to see all of the history there as well as the beautiful scenery.

What is your favorite meal?

Carne adovada enchiladas with red chile. It's always the first meal I eat when I go back to Albuquerque.
