For the second time in her career, Wyoming Cowgirl junior Aubrey Vandiver has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII Team. She received Second Team honors this season, while as a sophomore she was named to the Third Team.
The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team is a part of the Academic All-America program. Student-athletes are selected in voting by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). CoSIDA District VII is made up of the states of Wyoming, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
To qualify, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility and participated in at least 50 percent of her team's games.
Vandiver is a two-time Academic All-MWC and Scholar Athlete selection, while carrying a gpa of 3.65 in spanish. She has started in all 20 games this season and is averaging a team leading 9.4 rebounds and 1.9 steals, while adding 13.6 points per game. She ranks among the Top 15 in seven categories in overall contests and four categories in league games. For the 2007-08 season, she averaged 10.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, which earned her Third Team All-MWC honors. Vandiver has earned MWC Player of the Week honors three times during her career and earned MVP honors at the Hawkeye Challenge as a sophomore. She has led the team in scoring 14 times, rebounding 12 times and has recorded a league leading 11 double-doubles. Vandiver has also moved into the Cowgirl record book as she is 14th in three-point field goals made (70) and attempts (202).
