In the only meeting of the regular conference season, the Wyoming women's basketball team will host the Air Force Falcons on Saturday afternoon. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. MT. in the Arena-Auditorium. Live stats, audio and video can be found on the women's basketball Gameday Central page located on GoWyo.com. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game. The WBCA's Play 4Kay is an opportunity for a nation of coaches to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The official charity is the Kay Yow Cancer Fund in partnership with The V Foundation and Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
The Cowgirls enter Saturday's contest with a 9-11 mark and 4-6 in conference action after a 61-45 victory over Nevada on Saturday night. Three of five starters finished the night in double-figures led by junior Jordan Kelley. She recorded a career-high 22 points along with five rebounds in 36 minutes of play. Junior guard Marquelle Dent followed with 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while senior forward Kayla Woodward added ten points and a team-high eight rebounds. Wyoming shot 21-of-44 (.477) from the field including 10-of-17 (.588) in the second half plus 6-of-17 (.353) from beyond the arc. The Cowgirls also outrebounded the Rams, 29-22.
Dent leads the way averaging 17.2 points, six assists and 2.1 steals. Woodward follows with a team-high 7.8 rebounds plus 15.4 points. Mileto is averaging 10.9 points while Kelley is adding 7.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists in her 20 contests this season. As a team, the Cowgirls are shooting 479-of-1194 (.401) from the field, 151-of-425 (.355) from the beyond the arc and 237-343 (.691) from the charity stripe.
Air Force enters the game 2-20 overall and 1-10 in league play. Last time out, the Falcons lost to the New Mexico Lobos, 69-46. Senior guard Jimi Blagowsky leads the way with a team-high 13.4 points plus three rebounds, while senior guard Lindsey Lewis is adding 11.4 points and four rebounds. The Falcons average 54.7 points compared to 77.3 points for their opponents, while getting outrebouded 47.2-32.5. This will be the 46th meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 43-2. The last time the two teams met was February 26, 2014. The Cowgirls earned a 73-32 victory in Colorado Springs. Air Force is coached by Andrea Williams who is in her fifth season with the program.
In conjunction with the game, the University of Wyoming Athletics Department is sponsoring the 11th Annual Walk for Women. All proceeds from the event directly benefit the Play 4Kay Foundation. Ivinson Memorial Hospital will also donate five cents for every lap completed. The walk will be held in the Arena-Auditorium Concourse at 11:30 a.m., with registration set to begin at 10:30 a.m. The cost is $30 per person or $15 for youth (6th grade and under) and $15 for UW Students. All participants will receive a t-shirt and lunch along with a ticket to the Wyoming vs. Air Force women's basketball game at 2 p.m. MT. The Stadium parking lot, east of War Memorial Stadium, will also be available for all Walk for Women participants this Saturday. People will be allowed to park in the lot all day for both the walk and the game.
