The Wyoming women's basketball team will be on the road to open the week as they take on the TCU Horned Frogs, on Wednesday, Feb. 4, in Ft. Worth, Texas. The game is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. MT and can be heard HERE.
The Cowgirls are 15-5 overall and 5-4 in MWC play after earning a hard fought 53-50 victory over the UNLV Lady Rebels on Saturday. Wyoming is led in scoring and rebounding by sophomore Hanna Zavecz who is averaging 13.6 points and 6.5 rebounds, along with 3.7 assists and 2.2 steals per game. She is followed by Jodi Bolerjack with 12.9 points per game and Erin Hicks with 8.8 points per game. Wyoming is shooting 403-1077 (.374) from the field and 283-396 (.715) from the free throw line so far this season.
The Horned Frogs are currently 11-8 overall and 5-3 in the MWC. They are led by Natasha Lacy, who is averaging 13.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. As a team, they are shooting 441-1147 (.384) from the field and out rebounding their opponents 39.6 to 37.3. They come into this season with three returning starters and ten letterwinners from a team that went 23-10 overall and 10-4 in Conference USA a year ago.
This will be the seventh meeting between the two schools. The series is tied at three all. The last time the two teams met was Jan. 7, 2006 as the Cowgirls defeated TCU, 68-67, in Laramie. The Horned Frogs are coached by Jeff Mittie who is in his seventh season with the program.
