The Wyoming women's basketball team will play its second game of a two-game homestand on Wednesday as it welcomes the San Diego State Aztecs. The Cowgirls enter Wednesday's contest with a 10-11 mark and 5-6 in conference action after a 74-51 victory over Air Force on Saturday afternoon. They have won three out of the last four games. Senior guard Kaitlyn Mileto led the way with a game-high 18 points while shooting 4-of-8 from beyond the arc and 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Junior guard Jordan Kelley recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 boards while senior forward Kayla Woodward added 13 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore center Kaylie Rader recorded 11 points and five rebounds along with junior guard Marquelle Dent with ten points and six assists. Wyoming was 26-of-53 (.491) from the field and 17-of-23 (.739) from the charity stripe. The Cowgirls outrebounded Air Force 45-25, had 32 points in the paint and 18 points off the bench.
Dent leads the way averaging 16.7 points, six assists and 2.1 steals. Woodward follows with a team-high 7.8 rebounds plus 15.3 points. Mileto is averaging 11.9 points while Kelley is adding 7.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists in her 21 contests this season. As a team, the Cowgirls are shooting 505-of-1247 (.405) from the field, 151-of-440 (.355) from the beyond the arc and 254-366 (.694) from the charity stripe.
San Diego State is 9-13 overall, 6-5 in the league and on a three-game winning streak. Senior forward Erimma Amarikwa leads the way with 11.2 points along with 7.1 rebounds. McKynzie Fort follows with 9.6 points and 3.3 rebounds. The Aztecs average 56.3 points compared to 61.9 points for their opponents. This will be the 50th meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 25-24. The last time the two teams met was Jan. 14, 2015. The Aztecs came out on top with a 57-54 victory. San Diego State is coached by Stacie Terry who is in her second year with the program.
