The Wyoming women's basketball team will wrap up the week at home as they welcome the Air Force Academy Falcons, on Saturday, Feb. 11. The game is set to tip off at 2:00 p.m.
The Cowgirls are 15-6 overall and 5-5 in MWC play after losing, 67-59, against the TCU Horned Frogs on Wednesday night. Wyoming is led in scoring and rebounding by sophomore Hanna Zavecz who is averaging 13.5 points and 6.5 rebounds, along with 3.8 assists and 2.1 steals per game. She is followed by Jodi Bolerjack with 13.1 points per game and Erin Hicks with 8.8 points per game. Wyoming is shooting 423-1126 (.376) from the field and 290-405 (.716) from the free throw line so far this season.
Air Force is currently 12-9 overall and 3-7 in conference play after earning a 74-45 win against San Diego State on Wednesday night. They are led by Alecia Steele who is averaging 10.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. As a team, they are shooting 504-1249 (.404) from the field and 87-281 (.310) from beyond the arc.They come in to this season with four returning starters and ten letterwinners from a team that went 7-21 overall and 2-12 in the MWC a year ago.
This will be the 29th meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 26-2. The last time the two teams met was Jan. 11, 2006 as the Cowgirls defeated the Falcons 64-55 in Colorado Springs. Air Force is coached by Ardie McInelly who is in her fifth season with the program.
