In its only game of the week, the Wyoming women's basketball team will host the Boise State Broncos on Saturday afternoon. Game time is set for a 2 p.m. MT tip at the Arena-Auditorium. UW is currently 11-11 overall and 4-8 in league play after an 84-75 loss against Utah State last Saturday. Sophomore Natalie Baker tied her career-high 19 points while bringing down eight rebounds. Senior Marquelle Dent followed with 18 points and nine assists while Liv Roberts added 12 points and eight rebounds. The Cowgirls shot 29-of-76 (.382) from the field and 13-of-38 (.342) from three. Wyoming was out rebounded 55-40.
The Broncos are 16-7 overall and 9-3 in MW play. Three players are averaging double-figures on the season led by Brooke Pahukoa. The junior guard is averaging 15.3 points along with 5.4 rebounds. Senior center Miquelle Askew chips in 12.9 points and 5.1 boards while forward Shalen Shaw is adding with 13.2 points and a team-high 9.1 rebounds. As a team, Boise State is out scoring its opponents 69.4-61.8 and out rebounding competitors 38.8-36.0. The Broncos return three starters and seven letterwinners to a team that went 22-11 overall and 11-7 in league play a season ago.
This is the 17th meeting between the two schools. The series is tied at 8-8. The last time the two teams met was January 23, 2016 with the Broncos coming away with a 58-49 victory. Boise State is coached by Gordy Presnell who is in his 11th season with the program.
In conjunction with the game, the University of Wyoming Athletics Department is hosting the 12th Annual Walk for Women. All proceeds from the event directly benefit the Play 4Kay Foundation. The walk will be held in the Arena-Auditorium Concourse at 11:30 a.m., with registration set to begin at 10:30 a.m. The cost is $30 per person or $15 for youth (6th grade and under) and $15 for UW Students. All participants will receive a t-shirt and lunch along with a ticket to the Wyoming vs. Boise State women's basketball game at 2 p.m. MT. The WBCA's Play 4Kay is an opportunity for a nation of coaches to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The official charity is the Kay Yow Cancer Fund in partnership with The V Foundation and Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
The Stadium parking lot, east of War Memorial Stadium, will also be available for all Walk for Women participants this Saturday. People will be allowed to park in the lot all day for both the walk and the game.
