The Wyoming women's basketball team will open up the week at home as they welcome the New Mexico Lobos, on Wednesday, Feb. 15. The game is set to tip off at 7:00 p.m.
The Cowgirls are 16-6 overall and 6-5 in MWC play after a 26-point win, 59-33, over the Air Force Academy Falcons on Saturday. Wyoming is led in scoring and rebounding by sophomore Hanna Zavecz who is averaging 13.5 points and 6.3 rebounds along with 3.6 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She is followed by Jodi Bolerjack with 12.9 points per game and Erin Hicks with 8.8 points per game. Wyoming is shooting 442-1172 (.377) from the field and 304-427 (.712) from the free throw line so far this season.
The Lobos are currently 18-6 overall and 8-3 in the MWC, while being ranked 19th in the AP Poll and 20th in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. UNM is led by Dionne Marsh who is averaging 16.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. They come in to this season with three returning starters and ten letterwinners from a team that went 26-5 overall and 12-2 in the MWC a year ago.
This will be the 50th meeting between the two schools. New Mexico leads 30-19. The last time the two teams met was Jan. 14, 2006 as UNM defeated the Cowgirls 62-39 in Albuquerque. New Mexico is coached by Don Flanagan who is in his 11th season with the program.
