Cowgirl Basketball Set To Battle Falcons On The Road

The Wyoming basketball team looks to bounce back on the road against the Air Force Academy Falcons, on Wednesday, Feb. 15. The game is set for 7:00 p.m. in Colorado Springs at Clune Arena. Live stats can be followed or audio can be found on

Wyoming is currently 9-13 overall and 5-4 in Mountain West play after a tough three-point loss, 60-57, to New Mexico on Saturday afternoon. The Cowgirls are led by Chaundra Sewell who is averaging a team high 13.5 points and 8.8 rebounds. Freshman Kayla Woodward follows with 12.0 points and 5.5 rebounds, while junior Ashley Sickles is adding 11.3 points plus 6.1 rebounds per game. As a team, they are shooting 463-1165 (.397) from the field and 102-372 (.274) from beyond the arc.

Sickles currently ranks sixth in minutes played, ninth eighth in blocked shots, ninth in rebounding and 13th in scoring. Sewell is among the Top 15 in points, rebounds, assists, blocked shots and field goal percentage. In league games, Woodward is second in field goal percentage, fifth in scoring and free throw percentage, sixth in rebounding and minutes played, eighth in three-point field goal percentage, tenth in steals, 11th in three point field goals made and 13th in assists. She has also recorded double-figures in eight of nine games during conference action as well.

The Falcons enter the contest with a 5-19 mark and 0-9 in MW play. Alicia Leipprandt is averaging a team high 13.8 points while adding 4.8 rebounds. Junior forward Dymond James is adding 12.5 points and a team leading 6.5 rebounds. They return five starters and 12 letterwinners to a team that went 9-22 overall and 3-13 in the Mountain West a year ago.

This is the 41st meeting between the two teams. Wyoming leads the series 38-2. The last time the two teams met was January 18, 2012 as the Cowgirls defeated the Falcons, 98-36, in Laramie. Air Force is coached by Andrea Williams who is in her second year with the program.
