For the second time this week, the Wyoming women's basketball team will take on a ranked opponent as travel to Provo, Utah to play the 18th ranked BYU Cougars, on Saturday, Feb. 18. The game is set to tip off at 2:00 p.m.
The Cowgirls are 17-6 overall and 7-5 in MWC play after a thrilling 59-52 win over the 19th ranked New Mexico Lobos, on Wednesday night, in Laramie. Wyoming is led in scoring and rebounding by sophomore Hanna Zavecz who is averaging 13.7 points and 6.1 rebounds along with 3.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She is followed by Jodi Bolerjack with 13.3 points per game and Erin Hicks with 8.5 points per game. Wyoming is shooting 464-1227 (.378) from the field and 309-435 (.710) from the free throw line so far this season.
The Cougars are currently 20-2 overall and 10-1 in the MWC while being ranked 18th in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll and 19th in the AP Poll. BYU is led by Ambrosia Anderson who is averaging 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. They come in to this season with two returning starters and 11 letterwinners from a team that went 19-11 overall and 9-5 in the MWC a year ago.
This will be the 60th meeting between the two schools. BYU leads the series 42-17. The last time the two teams met was Jan. 18, 2006 as BYU defeated the Cowgirls, 60-44, in Laramie. BYU is coached by Jeff Judkins who is in his fifth year with the program.
