The Wyoming basketball team will take their four-game winning streak on the road as they face the Fresno State Bulldogs, on Wednesday, Feb. 19. The game is set to tip-off at 8:00 p.m. MT at the Save Mart Center in Fresno. The Cowgirls are 17-6 overall and 8-4 in MW action after a 23-point win, 103-80, over San Jose State, on Saturday afternoon. Kayla Woodward is averaging a team high 17.9 points plus 7.2 rebounds, while Fallon Lewis is adding 15.3 points and a team high 9.7 rebounds. Kaitlyn Mileto follows with 14.6 points and Marquelle Dent leads the way with 4.8 assists plus 9.5 points per game. In league games, Woodward is third in scoring (18.8 ppg) and seventh in rebounding (7.3 rpg). Mileto is currently fourth in scoring with 15.8 points per game, while Lewis leads the league in rebounding with 10.1 per game.
Wyoming is third in the league in second in assists (16.1 aspg), scoring offense (75.0 ppg) and scoring defense (66.0 ppg), plus fourth in rebounding margin. They are also shooting 600-1402 (.428) from the field and 154-446 (.345) from beyond the arc, which are second and fourth respectively. In Mountain West games, they are second in scoring offense, assists and field goal percentage, fourth in scoring defense, rebounding margin and three-point field goal percentage.
Fresno State is 14-10 overall and 8-5 in MW play coming into this week's action. Last time out, the Bulldogs were defeated by Colorado State, 53-47, in Ft. Collins. They are led by Taylor Thompson who is averaging 13.2 points plus 4.8 rebounds. Jacinta Vandenberg is adding a team high 6.5 boards along with 6.5 points. They return three starters and eight letterwinners to a team that went 24-9 overall and 13-3 in the MW last year.
This will be 21st meeting between the two schools. The series is tied at 10 all. The last time the two teams met was January 29, 2014, as the Cowgirls defeated the Bulldogs, 87-76, in Laramie. They are coached by Raegen Pebley who is in her second year with the program.
