Cowgirl Basketball Closes Out Week with Road Game at TCU

The Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball team will continue play on the road this weekend as they face the TCU Lady Frogs, on Saturday, February 21. The game is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. Mountain Time.

The Cowgirls will enter this game with a 13-11 overall record, 5-6 in Mounatin West Conference play and on a two game winning streak. They earned a 50-44 road victory over the UNLV Lady Rebels, on Wednesday night, in Las Vegas. Sophomore Hillary Carlson led the way with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Megan McGuffey recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Four Cowgirls are scoring in double-figures this season led by sophomore Hillary Carlson who is averaging 11.3 points, while senior guard Megan McGuffey is adding 10.8 points per game. Freshmen Kristen Scheffler and Emma Langford follow closely with 10.5 and 10.2 points respectively. McGuffey also leads the way with 6.3 rebounds per contest.

Carlson ranks fourth in the league in field goal percentage and 12th in scoring, while Scheffler leads the league in three-point field goals made (2.46 tpfgm) and 19th in scoring. McGuffey ranks tenth in rebounding and 16th in scoring.

In conference games, Carlson is fifth in scoring (15.2 ppg), eighth in field goal percentage (55-116, .474) and ninth in rebounding. Scheffler is third in three-point field goals made, fourth in minutes played, while being 13th in scoring (10.8 ppg).

TCU comes into this game with a 17-8 record overall and a 9-3 mark in the MWC this season. Helena Sverrisdottir leads the way with 16 points, seven rebounds and 5.2 assists, while TK LaFleur is adding 14.9 points and 5.4 boards.

They return two starters and five letterwinners to a team that went 23-12 overall a year ago. This is the 14th meeting between the two teams. TCU leads the series 7-6. The last time the two teams met was January 21, 2009 as the Lady Frogs defeated Wyoming, 81-78, in Laramie. TCU is coached by Jeff Mittie who is in his tenth season with the program.
