Cowgirls to Visit Rams for Saturday Contest

In their only game this week, the Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will travel to Ft. Collins to face the Colorado State Rams, on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 2:00 p.m. The game can be heard HERE, viewed live on the internet HERE and can be seen on CSTV, which is Channel 27, in Laramie.

The Cowgirls, who are currently receiving votes in the AP poll, are 18-6 overall and 8-5 in MWC play after a thrilling 59-52 win over the 19th ranked New Mexico Lobos, last Wednesday night in Laramie and a 57-56 victory over the 18th ranked BYU Cougars, on Saturday in Provo.

The Cowboy Joe Club will also be hosting a pre-game party for Wyoming fans at Jim's Wings, 1205 W. Elizabeth, right across from Moby Gym. It will run from 12-1:45 p.m.

Wyoming is led in scoring and rebounding by sophomore Hanna Zavecz who is averaging 14 points and 6.2 rebounds along with 3.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She is followed by Jodi Bolerjack with 12.8 points per game and Erin Hicks with 8.5 points per game. Wyoming is shooting 486-1277 (.381) from the field and 314-443 (.709) from the free throw line so far this season. They also are ranked fifth in the country in turnovers with 13 a game and ninth in scoring defense giving up just 53.8 points per contest.

The Rams are currently 8-16 overall and 2-11 in the MWC after an 83-57 loss to the TCU Lady Frogs on Wednesday night. Colorado State is led by Melissa Dennett who is averaging 15 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. They come in to this season with four returning starters and seven letterwinners from a team that went 15-13 overall and 6-8 in the MWC a year ago.

This will be the 73rd meeting between the two schools. CSU leads the series 40-32. The last time the two teams met was Jan. 25, 2006 as Wyoming defeated the Rams 87-80 in overtime in Laramie. Colorado State is coached by Jen Warden who is in her first year with the program and her fourth as a head coach.
