The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will wrap up the weekend at home as they host the UNLV Lady Rebels. The game is set for Saturday, Feb. 26, at 2:00 p.m. Live stats can be followed or audio can be found on www.wyomingathletics.com. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game. The WBCA's Pink Zone initiative is a global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
Wyoming is currently 20-6 overall and 10-3 in conference play. They earned a 81-57 victory over Air Force on Wednesday night in Colorado Springs. Aubrey Vandiver is averaging a team leading 18.3 points and 9.0 rebounds, while Hillary Carlson is adding 17.2 points and 7.3 boards per contest. The Cowgirls are shooting .440 (612-1390) from the field, 194-523 (.371) from beyond the arc and 311-446 (.697) from the charity stripe.
Vandiver is among the Top 15 in points, rebounds, assists, steals, minutes played and field goal percentage. Carlson ranks second in blocked shots, third in scoring, fourth in field goal percentage and ninth in rebounding in overall games. Senior Jade Kennedy is first in minutes played, second in assist/turnover ratio and ninth in assists. In league games, Carlson is second in scoring, third in blocked shots, fourth in field goal percentage and seventh in rebounding. Vandiver is first in scoring, third in minutes played, fourth in rebounding plus eighth in field goal percentage.
The Lady Rebels are currently 10-18 overall and 3-11 in the MWC after a 68-60 loss against New Mexico Wednesday night. They are led by Kelli Thompson who is averaging 14.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. She is followed by Jamie Smith who is adding 7.9 points and a team leading 7.9 rebounds. They return five starters and 11 letterwinners to a team that went 13-18 overall and 6-10 in the MWC last year.
This is the 34th meeting between the two schools. UNLV leads the series 19-14. The last time the two teams met was January 26, 2011 as the Cowgirls defeated the Lady Rebels, 69-61, in Las Vegas. UNLV is coached by Kathy Olivier who is in her third season with the program.

In conjunction with the game, the University of Wyoming Athletics Department is sponsoring the Seventh Annual Walk for Women. Along with the walk, a Silent Auction will be held with all proceeds from the event directly benefiting the Wyoming Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The walk will be held in the Arena Auditorium Concourse with registration set to begin at 10:30 a.m. The cost is $30 per person or $15 for youth (6th Grade and Under) and $15 for UW Students.
