The Wyoming basketball team will play the first of two road contests on Wednesday, February 26, against the Air Force Falcons. The game is set to tip-off at 7:00 p.m. in Colorado Springs at Clune Arena. The Cowgirls are 18-7 overall and 9-5 in MW action after a 26-point win, 75-49, on Saturday in Laramie. Kayla Woodward is averaging a team high 17.7 points plus 7.2 rebounds, while Fallon Lewis is adding 15.1 points and a team high 9.7 rebounds. Kaitlyn Mileto follows with 14.0 points and Marquelle Dent leads the way with 4.6 assists plus 10.0 points per game. In league games, Woodward is third in scoring (18.3 ppg) and sixth in rebounding (7.4 rpg). Mileto is currently fifth in scoring with 14.5 points per game, while Lewis leads the league in rebounding with 10.1 per game.
Wyoming is second in the league in assists (16.0 aspg), third in scoring offense (74.4 ppg) and scoring defense (65.2 ppg), plus fourth in rebounding margin. They are also shooting 168-475 (.354) from beyond the arc and 649-1520 (.427) from the field, which are first and second respectively. In Mountain West games, they are first in scoring offense, second in assists, field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage and third in scoring defense.
Air Force is currently 1-23 overall and 0-14 in the MW coming into this week's contest. Last time out, the Falcons lost to Nevada, 76-43, in Reno. They are led by Jimi Blagowsky who is averaging a team high 11.2 points plus 3.0 rebounds. Madeleine Philpot brings down a team high 4.3 rebounds. They return two starters and eight letterwinners to a team that went 4-26 overall and 3-13 in the MW last season.
This will be 45th meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 42-2. The last time the two teams met was January 22, 2014 as the Cowgirls defeated the Falcons, 82-47, in Laramie. Air Force is coached by Andrea Williams who is in her fourth season with the program.
