The Wyoming women's basketball team will return to the friendly confines of the Double A for the first of two home games as they host the Air Force Falcons. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 7:00 p.m. Live stats and audio can be found at www.gowyo.com.
The Cowgirls are currently 20-6 overall and 9-4 in MW play after a 64-60 victory over UNLV on Saturday afternoon. Four of five starters are averaging double-figures led by Chaundra Sewell. She is averaging 15.0 points and a league leading 9.4 rebounds. Kayla Woodward follows closely with 14.0 points and 6.2 rebounds while Kaitlyn Mileto is adding 12.7 points. Senior Ashley Sickles is chipping in 10.9 points and 5.6 boards as well.
Wyoming is first in the league in scoring offense (70.6 ppg), rebounding margin (+7.0) and assists (15.9 aspg). They are also shooting 662-1470 (.450) from the field and 166-440 (.377) from beyond the arc. Both rank first in the league. In Mountain West games, they are first in scoring offense, assists and field goal percentage, second in free throw percentage and rebounding margin.
Air Force is 4-21 overall and 3-9 in conference action entering this week's contest. Last time out, they defeated Boise State, 77-72, in Colorado Springs. They are led by Alicia Leiprandt who is averaging 13.2 points plus 4.2 rebounds. Dymond James follows with 9.1 points and a team leading 7.4 rebounds. They return four starters and 11 letterwinners to a team that went 6-24 overall and 1-13 in the MW a year ago.
This will be the 43rd meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 40-2. The last time the two teams met was January 26, 2013 as the Cowgirls defeated the Falcons 86-48 in Colorado Springs. Air Force is coached by Andrea Williams who is in her third season with the program.
