Cowgirl Basketball On The Road For Final Conference Game

The Wyoming basketball team will close out the 2012 Mountain West season on the road against the TCU Horned Frogs, on Tuesday. The game is set for 5:30 p.m. Mountain Time at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum in Fort Worth. Live stats can be followed or audio can be found on www.wyomingathletics.com. The game will also be broadcast on The Mtn. Sports Network (Channel 412 in Laramie).

Wyoming is currently 11-15 overall and 7-6 in Mountain West play after 61-53 loss against the Boise State Broncos on Saturday afternoon. The Cowgirls are led by Chaundra Sewell who is averaging a team high 13.8 points and 8.9 rebounds. Freshman Kayla Woodward follows with 12.1 points and 5.5 rebounds, while junior Ashley Sickles is adding 11.6 points plus 6.0 rebounds per game. As a team, they are shooting 542-1362 (.398) from the field and 121-426 (.284) from beyond the arc.

Sickles currently ranks third in minutes played, ninth in blocked shots, tenth in rebounding and 13th in scoring. Sewell is among the Top 15 in points, rebounds, assists, blocked shots and field goal percentage. In league games, Woodward is fourth in minutes played, fifth in field goal percentage, sixth in rebounding and scoring, eighth three point field goals made, tenth in steals and13th in assists. She has also recorded double-figures in 10 of 13 games during conference action as well.

TCU is 15-13 overall and 8-5 in the Mountain West. Natalie Ventress is averaging a team high 13.9 points along with 4.5 rebounds. Antoinette Thompson is adding 8.5 points while Latricia Lovings is averaging a team high 5.9 boards per game. They return three starters and six letterwinners to a team that went 22-11 overall and 13-3 in the MW to earn a spot in the first round of the WNIT.

This is the 20th meeting between the two teams. TCU leads the series 11-8. The last time the two teams met was Feb. 1, 2012 as the Cowgirls defeated the Frogs, 64-54, in Laramie. TCU is coached by Jeff Mittie who is in his 13th season with the program.
