Cowgirl Basketball Returns Home to Host Lady Rebels on Saturday

The Wyoming women's basketball team will look to bounce back from a loss earlier this week as it hosts the UNLV Lady Rebels on Saturday afternoon. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. MT. at the Arena-Auditorium. From 1-2 p.m., there will be pregame youth activities hosted in War Memorial Fieldhouse by various UW women's sports programs. Girls 12 and under can purchase game tickets for just $5.

The Cowgirls enter Wednesday's contest with a 13-12 mark and 8-7 in league play after having their four-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday against Fresno State, 67-50. Junior guard Marquelle Dent led the way with a team-high 16 points, plus six assists and two rebounds. Senior forward Kayla Woodward added nine points followed by sophomore center Kaylie Rader with eight points and a team-high six rebounds. The Cowgirls shot 22-of-55 (.400) from the field and 3-of-10 (.300) from beyond the arc.

Dent leads the way averaging 17.2 points, 6.1 assists and 2.4 steals. Woodward follows with a team-high 7.4 rebounds plus 15.3 points. Senior Kaitlyn Mileto is averaging 11.8 points while junior Jordan Kelley is adding 7.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists in her 25 contests this season. As a team, the Cowgirls are shooting 601-of-1471 (.409) from the field, 190-of-520 (.365) from the beyond the arc and 300-of-429 (.699) from the charity stripe.

UNLV enters the weekend with a 13-13 mark overall, 10-5 in Mountain West play and won five-straight games. Senior guard Danielle Miller leads the team in scoring with 18.5 points plus four rebounds. Senior forward Alana Cesarz follows with 15.5points and a team-leading 7.6 rebounds. The Lady Rebels average 70.7 points compared to 69.7 points for their opponents while outrebounding the opposition 44.4-40.8.

This will be the 41st meeting between the two schools. UNLV leads the series 21-19. The last time the two teams met was Dec. 31, 2014 with UNLV earning a 58-55 victory in Las Vegas. The Lady Rebels are coached by Kathy Olivier who is in her seventh season with the program
