The Wyoming women's basketball team Wyoming will take on the Fresno State Bulldogs on Tuesday night in the quarterfinals of the 2015 Mountain West tournament. . The Cowgirls enter Tuesday's contest as the sixth seed with a 16-13 mark overall after defeating Air Force, 70-48, in the first round of the MW Championships Junior Marquelle Dent leads the way averaging 17.4 points, 6.1 assists and 2.2 steals. Senior Kayla Woodward follows with a team-high 7.7 rebounds plus 15.2 points. Senior Kaitlyn Mileto is averaging 11.8 points while junior Jordan Kelley is adding 7.6 points and seven rebounds.
As a team, the Cowgirls are shooting 705-of-1697 (.415) from the field, 216-of-592 (.365) from the beyond the arc and 351-of-502 (.699) from the charity stripe. They rank first in three-point field goal percentage, third in scoring defense, field goal and free throw percentage and fourth in scoring offense and assists.
The Bulldogs are the third seed with a 21-8 overall record with a 13-5 in league play. Co-MW player of the year Alex Sheedy leads the way with 16.4 points and a team-high 7.2 rebounds per contest. Toni Smith follows with 8.6 points and five boards. The Bulldogs average 63.7 points compared to 58.5 points for their opponents.
This will be the 24th meeting between the two schools. Fresno State leads the series 13-10. The last time the two teams met was Feb. 25, 2015 with the Bulldogs coming out on top 67-50 in Fresno. Earlier in the season, Fresno State earned a 66-65 victory in Laramie on January 17. Fresno State is coached by Jaime White who is in her first season with the program.
