For the first time in her career, junior Marquelle Dent was among five individuals selected to the WBCA All-Region Seven Team announced today by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. The selection committee will select the 10-member WBCA Division I Coaches' All-America Team from the 52 All-Region candidates. The 2015 WBCA Division I Coaches' All-America Team will be announced Saturday April 4, during NCAA® Women's Final Four® Super Saturday festivities.
Dent, from Denver, Colo., led the Cowgirls in scoring, assists, steals and minutes played this season. She shot 182-of-418 (.435) from the field and 131-of-166 (.789) from the charity stripe. In league games, she averaged a team-high 16.8 points, 6.4 assists and 2.4 steals in 36 minutes per game while shooting 109-of-255 (.427) from the field and 63-of-84 (.750) from the free throw line. Dent ranked among the Top Five in six categories both overall and in MW play.
She was recently selected to the All-Mountain West and All-Defensive Teams for the first time in her career. Dent finished in double- figures in 29 games including every game in MW play. She had two double-doubles while leading the team in assists 26 times, steals 18 times and scoring 14 times. The point guard also moved into sixth place all-time in career assists with 353.
