University of Wyoming Cowgirl headbasketball coach Cindy Fisher today completed her 2000-01 recruitingclass by signing one student-athlete to a national letter of intent toattend the University of Wyoming beginning in the fall of 2001. Here isthe signee:
Sara Hippen, 6-3, Center, La Porte City, Iowa.: A First Team All-Stateselection by the Associated Press of Iowa at Union High School in LaPorte City, Iowa. She was also named Second Team All-State by the DesMoines Register, while helping her team to a 25-1 overall record, losingin the state semi-finals. Hippen averaged 17 points, ten rebounds, was68% from the field and 71% from the free throw line during her senioryear. Recently, she was named the MVP of the Iowa East-West All-StarGame. Hippen also played and lettered in three other sports, includingvolleyball, softball and track and field. Coached in high school byRobert Driscol, Sara is the daughter of Gary and Mary Jo Hippen. Shechose Wyoming over several schools.
"We are very excited about the addition of Sara to our 2001 recruitingclass," said head coach Cindy Fisher. "As a four-sport athlete, shebrings great mobility and size to the post position. Due to this years'talented recruiting class and the high commitment level of ourreturnees, we look forward to a successful 2001-2002 season."
Hippen is the fifth signee for the Cowgirls this year. They signed fourathletes during the early signing period, which include Ashley Elliott(5-7, G, Flagstaff, Ariz.), Kristen Lenhardt (6-1, F, Ft. Collins,Colo.), Kelly McRee (5-10, G/F, Phoenix, Ariz.), and Dafina Tucker (6-3,C, Aurora, Colo.)
