May 7, 2010

University of Wyoming Cowgirl head basketball coach Joe Legerski today announced one addition to this year's recruiting class with the signing of Chelan Landry to attend the University of Wyoming beginning in the fall of 2010.

"We are excited to add Chelan Landry to the Wyoming basketball program," said Legerski. "She will provide depth at the guard line, and we look for great things from her as a future Cowgirl."

Here is the signee:

Chelan Landry, 5-9, Guard, Milwaukee, Wis. (Milwaukee Vincent HS):
Landry was an Honorable Mention All-State selection while attending Milwaukee Vincent High School. This past season, she was also named First Team All-City Conference Gold Division, the Co-Player of the Year in the City Conference and Fourth Team All-Area. Landry averaged 13 points and seven assists, while helping her team to a 24-3 overall record and a 14-0 mark to win the City Conference Championship in 2010 as well. They would fall in the state semi-finals against Pius XI. During her junior year, the team went 25-1 and 12-1 in the conference on their way to their third straight WIAA Division I State Title. They finished 22-3 overall and 12-3 in league play during the 2007-08 season, while going 25-1 overall in her first year with the team. They went a combined 96-8 over the past four seasons. She was coached in high school by Marquis Hines. Landry is the fifth Milwaukee Vincent player in four years to receive a Division I scholarship and the second this season. She is the daughter of Felischa Booker and Wesley Landry.

Landry is the second student-athlete to sign a letter of intent with the Cowgirls, as they inked one during the early signing period. The other signee is Kaylee Hoffman from Hays, Kansas.
