Laramie, Wyo. -- Fifth-year head coach Cindy Fisher andthe University of Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will open up withfirst practice of the 2002-03 season Saturday, October 12 at 9:00 a.m.,in the Arena Auditorium. Fisher welcomes back four starters and elevenletterwinners from last year's squad that finished 13-15 overall and 5-9in the Mountain West Conference.
"We have been waiting for six months to get going again," said headcoach Cindy Fisher. "This is a very excited and enthusiastic group thatcan't wait to get the season started. These ladies have put in anincredible off-season of hard work, and are stronger, quicker and veryeager to win. The seven seniors and five returners are committed totaking this program to another level.'
The Cowgirls' first practice will begin on Saturday morning from9:00-11:00 a.m., plus a second practice from 3:00-5:00 p.m. They willtake Sunday off before continuing on Monday with a practice from6:00-9:00 p.m. All practices are open to the public. The Cowgirls' will open up the 2002-03 regular season with one of twoexhibition games against Colorado School of Mines, on Saturday Nov. 9,at 2:00 p.m., in the Double A. They will open the regular season on theroad in Pullman, Wash., Nov. 18 at 8:00 p.m., as they face Pac 10opponent Washington State. Utah and Brigham Young will be the firstMountain West Conference opposition for the Cowgirls, on Jan. 16 andJan. 18, in Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah.
