The Wyoming women’s basketball team will host its season opener on Sunday against the Chadron State Eagles. The game is set to begin at 4 p.m. MT. Live stats, audio and video can be found on the women’s basketball Gameday Central page located on the GoWyo.com website.

Four Cowgirls recorded double-figures to lead UW to a 49-point win, 90-41, over the Adams State Grizzlies in an exhibition game on Thursday night. The game featured the four-quarter format for women’s basketball this season.
Freshman Rachelle Tucker was one of 11 Cowgirls to get into the scoring column. She finished the night with 14 points, shooting 4-of-7 from the field and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. Senior Marquelle Dent finished with 12 points while fellow freshman Marta Gomez added 11 points and a team-high nine boards. Senior Jordan Kelley also added nine points and nine rebounds. Wyoming shot 26-of-60 (.433) from the field and 32-of-42 (.762) from the free throw line. The Cowgirls out rebounded the Grizzlies 56-22 and had 18 assists on 26 made baskets.
Sunday night’s game will also be the first action of the season for Chadron State. CSC returns three starters and seven letterwinners to a team that went 8-18 overall and 8-14 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference a year ago.
The two teams have met nine times during the regular season with Wyoming holding a 9-0 lead in the series. The last time the two teams met was Nov. 17, 2011 with the Cowgirls coming out with a 69-61 victory in Laramie. The Eagles are coached by Tim Connealy who is in his eighth season with the program.
