The Wyoming women's basketball team will open up the 2014-15 regular season in the renovated Arena-Auditorium on Monday when it hosts the Western State Mountaineers. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. MT. Live stats, audio and video can be found on the women's basketball Gameday Central page located on the GoWyo.com website.

Affectionately known as the Dome of the Doom, the Arena-Auditorium closed its doors on March 10 and underwent the first phase of a $30 million renovation over the summer and fall. Phase I created new spaces for the Cowboy and Cowgirl locker rooms, as well as new strength and conditioning, sports medicine and visiting locker room areas. The court was reoriented 35 degrees to provide additional practice space and is now the Maury Brown Court thanks to his generous donation. Renovations in fan amenities included all new theater-style seating in the lower bowl, which features padded chair-back seats, and two new video boards.

Fans may purchase tickets through the Wyoming Athletics Ticket Office at 877-WYO-FAN1 (877-996-3261) or online at GoWyo.com. Adult tickets are $10 and $6 for children ages three through 18.

The Cowgirls were picked to finish third in the Mountain West preseason poll, while senior forward Kayla Woodward was selected the MW Preseason Player of the Year for the second year in a row. Wyoming returns four starters and seven letterwinners to a team that finished with a 20-11 overall record and a 10-8 mark in Mountain West play. A First Team All-MW selection a year ago, Woodward averaged 16.7 points and 7.1 rebounds in 31 games. Senior guard Kaitlyn Mileto added 13.7 points and 2.6 rebounds followed by junior guard Marquelle Dent with 10.4 points and a team-high 4.6 assists and 1.6 steals. The other returning starter is senior forward Jordan Sibrel who started in all 31 contests and averaged 5.5 rebounds. Sophomore center Kaylie Rader, sophomore guard Hailey Ligocki and junior guard Jasmine Davis will also be key in Wyoming's success this season.

Six newcomers join the Wyoming program in 2014-15. Junior Jordan Kelley, who sat out last season under NCAA transfer rules, will look for her first action as a Cowgirl, while Natalie Baker, Marleah Campbell, Bailee Cotton, Liv Roberts and Skyler Snodgrass come in as freshmen.

Western State will play in the CSU-Pueblo Al Kaly Shrine Classic over the weekend before taking on the Cowgirls. The Mountaineers are led by senior forward Jade McIntosh who averaged 15.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest last season. They return four starters to a team that went 6-21 overall and 6-16 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

This is the third meeting between the two teams. The last time the two teams met was Dec. 9, 2006, as UW defeated the Mountaineers 69-56. Western State is coached by Van Girard who is in his third season with the program.
