The Wyoming women’s basketball team will face its first road test on Tuesday against the Cal State Fullerton Titans. The game is set to begin at 8 p.m. MT. Live stats, audio and video can be found on the women’s basketball Gameday Central page located on the GoWyo.com website.
Wyoming is currently 1-1 overall on the young season after suffering a tough 70-64 loss against Saint Mary’s on Friday night in Laramie. Senior Marquelle Dent finished with a season-high 21 points along with six assists in 37 minutes of action. She was 6-of-15 from the field and 8-of-9 from the charity stripe. Freshman Marta Gomez recorded a career-high 18 points while sophomore Liv Roberts added a career-high 14 points. Senior Jordan Kelley finished the night with double-digits in rebounds with ten. UW shot 21-of-55 (.382) from the field and 16-of-24 (.667) from the charity stripe.
Gomez currently leads all scorers averaging 16 points along with five rebounds per contest. Dent follows with 15.5 points and a team-high 6.5 assists, while Kelley has 11 rebounds per contest. UW is shooting 50-119 (.420) from the field and a league leading 30-38 (.789) from the charity stripe. The Cowgirls are also outscoring opponents 72-.5 to 61.5 and out rebounding teams 39.5 to 31.0.
The Titans are 2-2 overall on the season. Michelle Berry leads the way averaging 21.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest. As a team, Cal State Fullerton is averaging 68.5 points and 37 rebounds per contest. This is the fourth meeting between the two schools. CSF leads 2-1. The last time the two teams met was Dec. 6, 1996 with the Cowgirls coming out on top with a 57-56 victory. The Titans are coached by Daron Park who is in his third season with the program.
