The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will be back on the road for the second time this season as they will face the South Dakota Coyotes, on Saturday, Nov. 30. The game is set to tip at 1:00 p.m. MT at the DakotaDome in Vermillion. Live stats and audio can be found through the women's basketball Gameday Central page located on the www.gowyo.com website.
The Cowgirls are 4-0 this season after an 84-64 victory over the Pepperdine Waves, on Saturday night, in Laramie. Kayla Woodward and Fallon Lewis each finished with a team high 24 points. For Lewis, it was a career high while she added seven rebounds. Senior Chelan Landry also recorded double-figures with ten points. The Cowgirls were 32-69 (.464) from the field and 10-19 (.526) from beyond the arc.
Lewis and Woodward are each averaging a team high 17.3 points per contest along with 8.5 and 8.3 rebounds respectively. Kaitlyn Mileto follows with 13.3 points while Landry is adding 8.0 points and a team high 3.5 assists. As a team, the Cowgirls are shooting 101-255 (.396) from the field while averaging 44.5 rebounds and 75.0 points per game.
The Coyotes are currently 2-5 overall after a 63-48 loss against Creighton on Tuesday night. USD is led by Nicole Seekamp who is averaging a team high 16.6 points plus 4.4 rebounds. Tia Hemiller is adding a team high 6.0 rebounds along with 7.3 points.. They return three starters and six letterwinners to a team that went 19-16 overall and 10-6 in the Summit League a year ago.
This is will be the fourth meeting between the two schools. South Dakota leads the series 2-1. The last time the two teams met was Dec. 5, 1985 as the Coyotes defeated Wyoming, 75-61, in Vermillion. They are coached by Amy Williams who is in her second year with the program.
