Wyoming Basketball Begins Three Game Homestand Thursday

The Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball team will begin a three-game homestand on Thursday, December 1. They will host the Creighton Bluejays beginning at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on The Mtn. Sports Network. Live stats or audio can be found on www.wyomingathletics.com.

The Cowgirls are currently 1-4 on the season after a tough weekend last time out. Wyoming is led by junior Chaundra Sewell with 12.4 points and seven rebounds per game. Ashley Sickles follows with 11.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. As a team, they are shooting 95-256 (.371) from the field and 23-94 (.245) from beyond the arc.

The Bluejays are 3-2 overall this season. Creighton is led by Sarah Nelson who is averaging a team leading 14.6 points and nine rebounds. She is followed by Carli Tritz with 12.5 points and 2.3 rebounds. They return two starters and eight letterwinners to a team that went 18-13 overall, 12-6 in the Missouri Valley Conference and made an appearance in the First Round of the WNIT a year ago.

This is the 20th meeting between the two schools. Creighton leads the series 11-8. The last time the two teams met was Nov. 20, 2010 as the Bluejays defeated Wyoming 60-49 in Omaha. Creighton is coached by Jim Flanery who is in his 10th season with the program.
