The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team continues their homestand as they welcome the Montana Lady Griz, on Saturday, Dec. 3. The game is set for 5:00 p.m. in the Arena Auditorium. Live stats or audio can be found on www.wyomingathletics.com.
The Cowgirls are currently 1-5 on the season after a 66-50 loss against Creighton on Thursday night. Wyoming is led by junior Chaundra Sewell with 11.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Ashley Sickles follows with 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. As a team, they are shooting 112-312 (.359) from the field and 24-112 (.214) from beyond the arc.
The Lady Griz are 3-3 overall this season after a 61-60 win over Utah State last time out. Montana is led by Katie Baker who is averaging a team high 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds. She is followed by Kenzie De Boer who is adding 9.7 points and 4.3 boards. They return three starters and six letterwinners to a team that went 18-15 overall, 10-6 in the Big Sky Conference and made an appearance in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
This is the 14th meeting between the two schools. Montana leads the series 8-5. The last time the two teams met was Dec. 21, 2010 as the Cowgirls defeated the Lady Griz, 73-51, in Missoula. Montana is coached by Robin Selvig who is in his 34th season with the program.
