University of Wyoming guard Ashley Elliott was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, marking her second career honor.
Elliott, a senior from Flagstaff, Ariz., led the Cowgirls to a 72-67 victory over Big 12 foe Colorado, Dec. 1. The win broke a 13-game losing streak to the Buffs dating back to a 67-63 Wyoming triumph, Dec. 13, 1989. Elliott scored a season-high 21 points and also dished out a career-high nine assists. With her 21 points against the Buffs, Elliott surpassed the 1,000-point mark and now ranks 12th in school history with 1,011 career points.
For the week, Elliott averaged 21.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 9.0 assists and 1.0 steals. She shot 46.2 percent from the field (6-for-13) and was perfect from the line (7-for-7).
Wyoming is 4-1 on the season and hosts Texas-Pan American tonight at 7 p.m.
