The Wyoming women's basketball team plays its final home non-conference game on Friday night against the Gonzaga Bulldogs. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT in the Arena-Auditorium. Live stats, audio and video can be found on the women's basketball Gameday Central page located on GoWyo.com.
The Cowgirls enter Friday's match-up with a 5-3 mark after earning a 36-point win, 77-41, over South Dakota Mines on Wednesday night. Three Cowgirls finished the night in double-digits led by junior guard Marquelle Dent. She recorded a game-high 16 points and six assists while shooting 6-of-13 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Senior forward Kayla Woodward followed with 13 points and a team high six rebounds while senior guard Kaitlyn Mileto added 12 points. Wyoming shot 29-of-73 (.397) from the field and 11-of-26 (.423) from beyond the arc, while outrebounding the Lady Hardrockers 43-38.
Woodward is averaging a team-high 8.4 rebounds plus 14.3 points, while Dent is adding a team-leading 17.5 points and 5.6 assists. MIleto follows with 10.3 points and 1.9 boards per game. As a team, the Cowgirls are shooting 172- of-433 (.397) from the field and 56-of-158 (.354) from the beyond the arc.
The Bulldogs are 5-3 overall this season. Last time out, Gonzaga lost 59-58 against Washington State on Tuesday night. Senior forward Sunny Greinacher leads the team in scoring with 15.3 points per game while adding seven rebounds. Junior center Shelby Cheslek is averaging a team-high 11.6 points plus 9.5 points per game. As a team, the Bulldogs are scoring 70.9 points per contest compared to 60.8 for their opponents, while outrebounding their competitors 43.1-32.8. This is the fourth meeting between the two schools. Gonzaga leads the series 2-1. The last time the two teams met was Dec. 22, 2008 in Spokane with the Bulldogs winning 67-38. Lisa Fortier is in her first season at the helm for Gonzaga.
