Cowgirl Basketball Welcomes Ball State On Saturday

The Wyoming basketball team will begin a two-game homestand on Saturday, Dec. 14, as they host the Ball State Cardinals. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 2:00 p.m. in the Arena Auditorium. The Cowgirls are 6-2 this season after wins over SIUE and North Dakota State this past weekend at the Air Force Classic. All 11 Cowgirls finished the night in the scoring column against SIUE, while three recorded double-figures. Kaitlyn Mileto and Kayla Woodward each finished with 19 points followed by Marquelle Dent with 14 points and a career high 11 assists and six steals. Fallon Lewis finished her night with a team high nine rebounds while adding nine points. Wyoming was 31-67 (.463) from the field and 16-20 (.800) from the charity stripe.

Five Cowgirls finished the night in double-figures led by Lewis against NDSU. She recorded 20 points and a career high 21 rebounds. The 21 boards is the fourth most in a single-game in school history. Kaylie Rader finished with a career high 16 points plus four rebounds. Woodward added 12 points followed by Mileto and Dent with 10 each. Wyoming shot 27-63 (.429) from the field including 16-30 (.533) in the second half and out rebounded the Bison, 48-41.

Woodward is averaging a team high 16.0 points plus 6.6 rebounds, while Lewis is adding 15.0 points and a team high 9.0 rebounds. Mileto follows with 14.4 points and Dent leads the way with 3.9 assists plus 8.6 points per game. As a team, the Cowgirls are shooting 210-504 (.417) from the field while averaging 41.0 rebounds and 74.5 points per game.

The Cardinals are 3-4 overall on the season. They are led by Nathalie Fontaine who is averaging a team high 17.4 points and 7.3 rebounds. She is followed by Brittany Carter with 14.2 points and 5.3 boards. They return all five starters and seven letterwinners who went 17-16 overall and 12-4 in the Mid-American Conference. This will be the second meeting between the two schools. Wyoming won the only meeting 64-61 on Dec. 18, 2012. They are coached by Brady Sallee who is in his second season with the program.
