The Wyoming women's basketball team closes out its non-conference schedule on Sunday against the Colorado Buffaloes. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. MT at the Coors Events Center in Boulder. The Cowgirls enter Sunday's match-up with a 5-4 mark after suffering a disappointing 70-56 loss last time out against Gonzaga. Three Cowgirls finished the night in double-digits led by junior guard Marquelle Dent. She recorded a game-high 19 points, six assists and six steals and five rebounds. Senior forward Kayla Woodward followed with 14 points and senior guard Kaitlyn Mileto added 12 points. Wyoming shot 19-of-49 (.388) from the field and just 4-of-18 (.222) from beyond the arc.
Dent leads the way averaging 17.7 points, 5.6 assists and 1.8 steals. Woodward follows with a team-high 7.7 rebounds plus 14.2 points, while Mileto is adding 10.4 points and two rebounds per game. As a team, the Cowgirls are shooting 220- of-555 (.396) from the field and 71-of-202 (.351) from the beyond the arc.
The Buffs are 6-3 in non-conference action this season. Senior Jen Reese leads the way in scoring and rebounding with 14.9 points and 8.9 rebounds per contest. Junior forward Jamee Swan is adding 13.2 points and 7.9 boards per contest. As a team, the Buffs are scoring 76.3 points per contest compared to 68.4 for their opponents, while outrebounding their competitors 48.7-40.2. This is the 48th meeting between the two schools. Colorado leads the series 36-11 and has won the last four in a row. The last time the two teams met was Dec. 4, 2013 in Laramie with the Buffs winning by the final of 68-59. Linda Lappe is in her fifth season with the program.
