For the second time this season, guard Aubrey Vandiver has been named Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played through December 19. It is the sixth time for her career she has earned the honor.
Vandiver, a 5-11 senior from Laramie, Wyo., recorded back-to-back double-doubles for the Cowgirls last week. Vandiver played every minute of a tough 63-59 overtime loss to Wisconsin on Wednesday, scoring 24 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. She shot .500 (8-16) from the field and .857 (6-7) from the free throw line. Vandiver followed that performance with 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 63-43 win over Washington State on Saturday. She shot a season-high .583 (7-12) from the field and recorded a career-high five assists against the Cougars.
For the week, Vandiver averaged 21.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game, while shooting .536 (15-28) from the field. She shot .444 (4-9) from three-point range and .800 (8-10) from the free throw line while averaging 42.0 minutes per game.
